Xyk and a fierce-looking war machine share tea on a cold battlefield.

Perhaps Xyk owns the robot, and perhaps they’re contentedly relishing the destruction they’ve just unleashed.

Perhaps Xyk happened upon the rampaging machine, stopped it, and taught it a more productive skill for its steam-powered engine – namely, the brewing of delicious tea?

Or perhaps they’re simply old friends, just a pair of dusty travelers trudging through an endless battlefield.

You, dear viewer, are free to choose.

I love pieces of art that tell stories, but I especially adore those that actually inspire them. When I discovered Xan’s incredible paintings, I was instantly fascinated. His ability to capture a poignant mix of the somber and serene is just terribly engrossing to me. It’s rather difficult to explain, but stories just seemed to erupt from each piece, and I couldn’t get enough. I feel so lucky to have snagged a commission from him.

And – get this – the guy is presently still in high school! *head explodes*
