The need for leadership is essential, even if it is only a facade.

-An example of a social evolution, the idea of a decentralized hivemind might be much for the uninitiated, so Voe created these caricatures of leaders to give him the illusion of hierarchy.

-Golden Drones have incredibly refined speech centers, giving them an authorial air to them when they speak. Combine that with general symbolism of royalty (such as a cape and a scepter in most cases), they have been designated as "King Voe".

-Golden Voe and Purple Voe are both ambassador castes, but the former is used in a more formal setting. Voe also tends to arrange things so that purples seem to answer to golds.

-Golds have a higher natural connection to the hivemind, but not the same organelle as Purples. This roughly has the same effect, though Golds are still fallible to outside control if it's high enough, even though it's tough to break.

-Golds have the highest dietary needs of any Voe, often due to their rampant gluttony and over-sized GI tract. They can eat anything and everything, with their taste center wired to enjoy all manner of food. It is unknown why Voe partakes in such frivolity through the golds, some suspect their soft, barely mobile appearance puts others at ease, while others suspect Voe enjoys such hedonism.

-Voe markings are distinct to every drone, which is useful for keeping track of each one. Golds tend to be the most marked, as Voe enjoys painting on them given their canvas size.

-Because of the illusion of leadership, Golden Drones are very ideal bait, not realizing that they're as disposable as every other drone in the hivemind.
