The sounds of laughter, screaming children, and the crunching of leaves filled the air. The lights of every house along the street were lit up, their orange glows illuminating the sidewalks along with the glimmering moonlight overhead. It was Halloween, the night of ghosts, zombies, and monsters to roam free in search of rare tricks, but more commonly, treats. Alexander walked ahead of Ezekiel, his bag of candy starting to get full.
"This was fun, wasn't it?" he asked. His costume was that of a pair of fox pajamas, complete with a hood with ears, the striking resemblance of his partner who trailed close behind him.
"I have to admit, it's been a long time since I've gone out. But... yeah, this was very fun." Ezekiel was in a similar pair of pajamas, but this one resembling a shark. The hood represented a shark's head, with the opening a mouth of fluffy teeth, and on his tail he wore a shark's fin to complete the costume. "Thanks for talking me into this, I would have never done this in a million years."
"That's because you didn't think to dress up as me." Alexander replied.
"Oh, hush. You know it's hard for me to think up of simple ideas. My brain is too big." Ezekiel said, using his free hand to poke at the side of his temple.
"Awww, boo hoo. Next time go as a zombie. That way you can be as simple as possible, maybe even completely brainless!"
"Haha, very funny. Let's get home, we have enough candy now."
It's that month, and we absolutely needed to do this or not get the chance again for a year.
