Yeah, he's only 3 feet tall, but he'll fuck you up anyway. Mostly cuz he can hear you coming before you even have boots on the ground.

I'm afraid I have read/consumed none of the classic works of fiction p_q
It's not surprising though, when you think about it. They have quite a few advantegous traits to them. Excellent hearing and sense of smell, good eyesight and night vision, they're tiny targets to try and hit and they can hide just about anywhere ...

*monocle drops* "....still adorable" <3
Interesting how he comes off as a total jock, characterisation done real well I think! Not being taken seriously though could result in that kind of overcompensation.
On another note this art landing as the WoW fox-race models are released is a bit uncanny... tis the season for cute fox-people? xP

Yeah, I would definitely want to pet him X3
We're all a product of our environment. A lifetime of being under-appreciated will make you somewhat callous. I wouldn't necessarily say he's overcompensating though.
Seeing as I have a general aversion to Blizzard games (and their recent escapades with Honk Kong aren't improving their standing with me), I couldn't really care much less about the new WoW release, though I can see why you might draw that parallel ;3

Amazing art as always iPoke.
Also great thinking in giving the fennec some ear protection, a must for a species with such keen hearing.
On that, I've always thought that the prospect of anthro characters in real life interacting with humans would be a rather terrifying scenario for several reasons.
Essentially you'd have beings of human-levels of intelligence that possessed for all intents and purposes, super-human powers. Sighthound breeds like the greyhound are considered dogs with the "worst" noses amongst dogs, yet compared to a human's sense of smell, theirs is still many, many times better. Your fennec in this image would have hearing so acute that as you rightly point out in the caption under it, they could pick up the rustle of boots from an enemy soldier trying to sneak up on them from probably 500 feet away... possibly even further if he's a trained soldier who has honed that skill (and maybe enhanced by those ear protectors - waht's to say that can't be used to further pinpoint targets too?)
It's details like this which I feel more furry artists don't take into consideration with their work, the actually sensory and physical advantages that seperate them from being just substitues for human characters.

Seeing as I like big ears and I've actually managed to damage my own hearing, I may be a little biased towards including hearing protection X3
I've always liked the idea of having exactly those traits in a story, one of the reasons why I was a little miffed with Zootopia, because they didn't play on those traits very much at all.
Another thing that's definitely a ringer for this sort of setting is that, not only do they have human-like intelligence, but they also have opposable thumbs to operate tools with. Opens an entirely new level of issues right there.
