However, it's generally bad form to assume someone is okay with you referring to them or their characters as 'it.' I know you are comfortable with this, but I personally find it very dehumanizing. Fictional or not, my characters are important to me, and I don't like referring to them as 'it'. I even used 'They' and 'He' multiple times in the reference and description, in this case.
Just food for thought! It'd be safer to go with 'they' if you're not sure how to refer to someone or someone's character unless they explicitly state they're okay with 'it'.
