was so excited back when i heard that around the same time, not only for anime adaptation but for english manga release. i had to support it by buying the manga officially. That Paru lady can do some good drawings of them anthro animals, although considering who her father is, it's partially expected of excellent art
I really like the anime but my only problem with that is the ugly af CGI. But in other part's the anime is fantastic.
It's obviously based on Zootopia but Beastars is way more deeper, i mean the manga/anime show the herbivores more meaner then the carnivores.
And Legoshi is a great character. He's not evil but just because he's a wolf everybody is afraid of him but not just him, even there is a 'piece and love' betwenn the animal's the herbivores still treat the carnivores like shit and afraid of them.
I hope we get 24 episode long series not just 12-13 episode.

Well, compared to previous attempts at 3D anime, I think Beastars is one of the better examples. Plus the studio making it also made Land of the Lustrous which received a ton of praise for its CG animation (Example). I think being in 3D really helps with the mouth movements too. I did hear that the voice acting is prerecorded. Considering this is a weekly series and a cast filled with numerous anthropomorphic animals, I imagine doing 2D of this would've been rough. XP
I can understand that. I do think Beastars benefits from being in 3D though. The 2D artists would have to learn to draw and animate dozens of animal heads, and being a 2D animator in Japan is already a nightmare (Even the director of Jojo part 4 said that moving to Japan to become an animator is not worth it). I think some of the movements with the mouth and other subtle movements would be difficult if not time consuming to pull off in 2D, but that's just my opinion.
Well, least there's Studio Trigger's Brand New Animal that's coming out next year if you want more anthro stuff in 2D.

I'd have to send you episode 2 probably, but this place seems to be doing subs (good subs too), and they have episode 1 right now:
