Commentary for October 12, 2013:
On this page, I reached a decision. In panel 4, I experimented a bit with adding hand drawn details to the 3D model used for the city, and I liked the result, but it wasn't enough. The edges look a bit grainy and, as you may recall from in chapter 2, resizing 3D models to certain scales results in very pixelly images. So, I decided that, in chapter 4, I would experiment with drawing over the background models by hand, in order to give them the same smoother lines as the characters. Of course, in the end, I couldn't wait that long. So, beginning with page 3.7, which you'll see in a fortnight, I started doing that. So far, I'm pleased with the results. I think it'll make the backgrounds and characters look like they actually belong together, at least.
Also, one thing I've always been hesitant to draw is machines... Well, I drew a bunch of rifles and pistols for chapter 1, and that wasn't too bad. Now I've drawn a vacuum cleaner. Seems I'm getting over my hang-ups at last!
Addendum for October 5, 2019:
In order to bring the format of the earlier chapters into line with Chapter 7 onwards, I’ve made an updated version of this page, which is larger, with clearer text. Hopefully, this will make the earlier chapters easier to read.
