"The King has many needs.
I am sure that if he wished to fulfill all of them himself, he could, but in his infinite wisdom he has decided to grant the completion of various tasks to naturally skilled and then carefully trained Furred. I am one of these. We have different titles depending on what he wishes us to do, and during that time we forfeit our names to become those titles more fully. Once our tenure is completed the King returns to us our names. Some of these are front facing, such as the Communicator and the Singer, but most of them are not.
I have a task which is private to all but the King, myself, and my 'clients'.
The King's vast intellect has allowed him to understand that the people of his kingdom deserve Magic. Mostly Magic sees to itself. It doesn't often manifest in ways that could harm people other than its wielders, and Magic tends to seek out people who would use it responsibly. But there's a few bad apples in every bushel.
People who become dangerous through Magic are my clients. I find them. I touch them. I break their Magic. If their crimes are great enough they come with me back to the castle and the King sees to their punishment, but usually loosing what most of their kind considers to be their greatest gift is punishment enough. The people who's lives they have harmed are handled by a few subordinates I have.
My title is Breaker. I am the shadow that follows all Furred. It can be ignored in bright places, where you feel sure of yourself, where you don't have to consider how much room your shadow takes up. But once the sun goes down, and the world grows dark, your shadow becomes hard to distinguish. Is it still the same size as you? Is it still the same shape? How much of it is your shadow, and how much of it is the darkness beyond? Can you contend with darkness that isn't yours?
Breaking Furred of their Magic isn't hard. Disabusing them of their inclination to harm others isn't hard. We all have shadows within and without us, and they help see to the Balance of all things. I have accepted my shadow. If you come into my city, you had best hope you understand yours."
World: Knights of Nodd.
Characters: Umbra Silverfang, The Breaker.
Media: Easy Paint Tool SAI and Microsoft Paint.
