This came out awesome. I absolutely love the style this was done in, and Rodent came out simply amazing. The clothing, posture and expression all work so beautifully together to capture such a delightful personality for the rat.
The choice of a dark western theme, rather than gothic-victorian, works perfectly as well. I agree completely that both styles work for portraits, where each would portray its own, distinct look and feel. Going with this for Rodent definitely captures a charm and personality that just works so perfectly for him. I really couldn't be happier with how this turned out.
This is why I love allowing any artist the freedom to do their own interpretation of my character, because it always turns out to be more creative and wonderful than I could have anticipated. Thanks again for taking this commission and doing such an awesome job with it.
