Comic starring P1zzaWh4le's Jack and my Moose.
Got a lot of help from P1zzaWh4le, thank you sir
A comic on terrible spending habits I see a loooot from some furries in the community.
It's ok to occasionally treat yourself but furry art isn't everything. Take care of yourself and your families,
I had someone ask how this makes you look like a jerk:
Constantly asking for money or emergency commissions to eat or something and then immediately buying art.
People helping you with NEEDED bills and things and then you go and buy a new OC? Makes you a jerk. It's the trust/kindness of the people buying commissions to help them and then the buyers being betrayed
I feel like we've all done this a couple times.
It's when it happens often that it becomes a problem/makes you look untrustworthy
I'm not trying to police what anyone buys, this is just from my perspective.
This comic very much did come from watching some specific people. Learning how much an acquaintance of mine struggles to feed their kiddo and watching them constantly buy new OCs and art makes my stomach flip. But this isn't an isolated thing and a lot of people do this.
Why?
People think you NEED so much art to be a furry.
You really don't. Please don't ruin your own life or your loved ones' lives because you saw a pretty new oc or more art of your fursona. Stay safe.

This brings up far to many names right to mind who've done similar to this x.x The whole "Need money for X urgently" and similar.. week later; dozen more commissions costing more than I make in a month; begging for food money again.
It's like my half brother and watches/consoles..

I feel like with both of you commentators I got super off topic lol
See, this comic was actually more aimed at people that actually genuinely need the money.
The ones that risk their rent or food for themselves/their family because they'd rather buy another dog design or get another pin-up drawn.

Good point x3 doesnt help that, regardless of situation; it can be insanely hard for some folks to save up/keep money for those "Oh shit" moments in life due to other circumstances.
Couple that with the universal "Oooo shiny~" reflex alot of folks have, especially during a bad time; and it can sadly end up making it worse. On the one hand, you need X (rent, food, utility) but getting Y (art, something you collect, ext) helps with the feelings made by bad time, but also extends it x.x

Ah yea, I see this way too much from too many people.
I personally find 'EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS' as more of a deterrent than a simple "Commissions Open!" announcement.
I think what adds injury to insult is when these people not only frequently open for emergency commissions, they just simply never deliver on the ones they've already taken on previously- commission backlogs a mile long. And the cycle will repeat. It is one or two parts that create this cycle: irresponsibility, and preying on the bleeding hearts of fellow furs who want to help.

It makes sense! There are a lot of ACTUAL TERRIBLE PEOPLE who make up emergencies too. "Guys I need money! For my grandma! She's dying!" Then a week later "GUYS THE CON WAS AMAZING LOOK AT ALL THE MERCH I GOT YAY" What about your grandma? "My what?"
It hurts a lot of people that way. Responsible artists with a bout of bad luck who need help have a harder time getting it because there are way too many liars or irresponsible types mucking it all up, then you have those who who got burned by them and are downright afraid to commission artists at all out of fear of getting scammed.

But then again, I don't know if they ACTUALLY need it or if it IS a "what grandma?" situation. And honestly idk which would be worse

I agree with you. its better to pay for food rent and other stuff you are in need before you lose it all. such as a house or flat, health is a very important one.
you don't need a ton of art of your sona to be a furry. if people can they can draw there own and be proud of it.
it is nice to treat your self but real life and your own health comes first before anything else, and if you have enough money then use it to treat your self. don't waste all the money that you own on something that you could save up for. cause rent and bills will never go away if you fall behind with them.
but art always comes back.
please be safe out there people and think smart. put the things that matter first before any luxuries.
(I hope this made some sense)
