"Did we really have to go here, tonight of all nights Shyla?" Anikka asked, tucking her tail between her legs as she looked behind her, gulping a little before looking back at the feathered naga woman before her. "I mean, I know you do this every other Thursday and all, but, did it have to be this Thursday?"
"I don't see the problem," Shyla said, dusting a gem poking out from the wall. "You knew it was Thursday today, and you did promise to join me,"
"Yeah, but..." Anikka frowned a little, gripping the lantern she brought. The girl was visibly shaking, strange for the usual calm and often times dominating air around the shark woman. In fact, she was usually stronger than this whenever they'd go through the gem mines, but last night, she stayed up until 3 in the morning after watching a rather terrifying crime drama on TV. While she was usually into shows like it, this one episode dealt with a serial killer drugging victims and locking them in small, tight boxes, leaving them deep inside caves, never to be seen again. The thought of being in such a confined and lonely situation scared her more than it should, leaving her a little more shaken. The thought was still fresh too, which was why she'd constantly look over her shoulder.
"Anikka, no one's coming here. The caves are too far from the nearest town, and I told Joratio that I'd be over here tonight. the feathered naga said, picking up a small gem that glowed a beautiful dull blue. "If anything were to happen to us, Joratio would be the first fur to know," she added, placing the gem in a small sack tied to a belt, which also held a two way radio.
"Yeah but what if...."
"Joratio said he'd let me know if anyone entered the caves, and it's not like some fur'll go this far out this late in the afternoon," Shyla said, turning to see her best friend shaking. Smiling, she reached out and gave her a hug, and a kiss on both cheeks. "Look, I promise, everything will be safe. I took extra precautions, so nothing'll happen to us. We won't go to deep, and I only need a few gems for a client's necklace," she said, hissing lightly.
Anikka let out a weak smile and looked at the snake woman before her, eyeing her, then her breasts, then back to her. "I promise, when you get home, you can also tie me up as tight as you want too, no restrictions," Shyla added, making Anikka feel much better and even cause her tail to wag a little. "Promise?"
"Promise," Shyla said, hissing lightly and kissing her on the snout. "Now come, we're almost done,"
Anikka nodded and loosened her grip on the lantern, following Shyla as she slithered a little ahead, spotting a green gem buried under some dirt. She had to admit, she did enjoy staring at the curves of that woman, but as she closed the gap, she heard a noise behind her. Turning around, her eyes grew wide when she saw a shadow rounding the corner. Eeping lightly, she turned to Shyla, who was oblivious to this stranger, dusting away the dirt. "U-uh... Shyla? Did Joratio send a message or anything?" she asked, looking behind her.
Shyla, picking up the gem to hold it close, reached for the radio lightly. "Anikka, this isn't a cellphone. If he called, I would've heard a scratchy tone, like this," she said, reaching for the radio to bring it close to her lips. "Joratio? Ya there?" she said, wanting to show Anikka that it was all fine.
She held the radio back and showed it to the shark, as if to tell her that all was okay. But, instead of hearing the scratchy voice of the mouse driver they had stationed at the mouth of the cave, all they heard was silence. This confused the snake, who would bring the radio back with a little more panic in her voice. "Joratio? You there? Joratio?" she asked, keeping her voice level so as not to instill panic in Anikka. More static, which made her more anxious as she looked up to the shark. "Maybe we're just too far deep inside. Come, let's head on out. I have all that I need," she said, nodding to the now shaking shark.
But, as she looked up to face the cave, she saw it too. A shadow, larger than before, was stood still at the end of the cave hall, blocking their way out. The shadow stood still, but its presence was felt. Anikka, for all her strength, would hide behind the snake girl, who'd rattle her tail tip. "Joratio? Is that you?" she asked, her voice trembling a little. "Joratio, this isn't funny..." she said, slithering back, which caused her to feel the shark against her nearly bare back.
The shadow would remain still, only to then grow bigger, and bigger. Steps, heavy in nature, would begin to echo, followed by the screech of a terrified shark.

WOOO, Halloween story!! Hehe. What do y'all think? Spoooky stuff?
Wanted something for my two lovely ladies, Shyla and Anikka, and boy was this a fun thing to draw and write. Still a lot of testing here and there, but I like how it came out. Fog effect is new too, and I hope you guys like it.
Anyway, happy Halloween you fluffy fuzzbutts, and stay safe.
