Appearance and Society: ( male and female anthro snowleopards ): 5 to 6 ft tall, average strength, good reflexes, high education, average endurance. The “Rubberpards” are snowleopards which stranded on the same world as the Reich, but a few decades earlier. They ran into the same problem as the White Tigers / Church in that their males went into mating frenzy after they unearthed an archeological find and breaking it. It was a millenia old bioweapon of unknown origin. But being bio-technicians and skilled engineers they mananged to combat the situation before all was lost. All they new was that their transport had abandoned them in panic when they saw the colonists attacking each other. Forced into primitivity as they destroyed most of their supplies in their frenzy, they are hard working to regain their former level to call for help, unaware of the Reich's existence.
The females encase most of their bodies in airtight rubbersuits to keep their pheromone-emanations down, as they haven’t found a way to revert the permanent heat they suffer from so far, instead of the once-per-year as before. As these suits would be easy to damage on the hunt, the males hunt for the females, resulting in a strong society focus for all, although it's a purely logical, not instinctive reaction. The males wear nearly nothing as they don't need any clothes, and manufacturing clothes just for the nice looks is, by logical decision, a very minor point on a long to-do list.
The 'Pards are individualistic and hedonistic, but have a very open and welcoming society and easily cooperate. Due to the cultural shock they went through they are very careful and try to minimize risks to the society at large. Individually they are very curious and promiscuous ( a lasting sideeffect of the affliction ). Their society is a hodgepodge of various technological levels coexisting, always dependant on what solution is feasible and addresses a problem sufficiently for the time being. They are graceful, agile, love arts, love to loaf, but are very energetic at tackling problems. Once something tickles their curiosity, or promises to make things easier for them ( to loaf more or better ) they throw themselves at it with a vengeance. 'Pards can be very emotional at times, forming sometimes lifelongs bonds ( “Denmates”), although mating is done mostly randomly each year anew. But denmates usually raise the offspring of both partners, in a way acting as a Kindergarten for friends, freeing up personnel for hunting and work.
The females suffer, as part from their infection with the eon old virus, from permanent heat – a situation normal for human females. With their entire hormonal system askew, their bodies lost some of their natural slender feline grace. Instead, their now much more curvy bodies seem to be heavily inspired by the designs of the terran upper paleolithic, such as the "Venus of Hohle Fels". Unable to safely go outside without risking damaging their “gleampelt” called rubber suits, the females specialize on learning and training, providing the majority of the parders crack engineers and scientists.
The young males are the hunters and provide the food for the rest of the Stranded’s society. However, the males suffer also from the effects of the bioweapon. But their physical changes are less pronounced than the females and more easily managed in later adulthood. As they don't exude pheromones, there is no need for them to wear gleampelts. Although the growth of particular bits of their physique necessitates specialized clothes or sometimes even implantation based solutions. That is the point where a male is no longer able to hunt and then has to switch to other tasks in the community, as the male equivalents of the gleampelts lack both the mechanical robustness as well as the thermal insulation of the fur they replaced or now cover up. From that point on they are then more busy crafting and building items, forming the majority of the craftsmen of their society.
Unknown to the rubberpards, they settled in the area of the ancient starport that once served the moonbases project of the orange tiger civilization. Still alive and mostly operational, the starports old AC helps them in little ways, unsure what to make of them initially.
When the Reich dumps, dressed as a PR stunt, a lot of victims of its own little biochemical weapons program in the antarctic continent, covering it up as a huge aircraft-crash, the rubberpards rescue the survivors. Assuming them to be some sort of warm climate simian cattle or pets initially, it takes them about three generations to come to grips with the fact that the quite versatile cattle they got from some unknown benefactor is actually a sapient race on its own behalf. By that point the rubberpards already rely heavily on human strength and endurance for transportation as well as on other, less savoury services. To complicate matters further, shortly after this discovery, the Reich returns to dig for minerals under the protection of the overhanging cliffs as their technology has improved in the past decades to allow them to expand in ways not easily detectable from space. The rubberpards on the ground easily spot them, attracted by sounds and scents. Symbols on the vehicles make the connection between the aircraft crash long ago and the submarine. What the rubberpard scouts observe in the coming months, does not enamour the pards to the humans of the Reich.
Later in history, the rubberpards join up with their brethren in the Asgard habitats. Some return to their ancestors ways, others however decide to stay with their new way of life, most of them staying in the notorious factory habitat “Cloudhome”
