#6: Mothman

Remember when I said there was but one cryptid I liked more then the Jersey Devil? Yeah... well, this would be the one. The Mothman has been my favorite cryptid since I heard about it and I think it comes down to two different things. One, I like moths. Pretty simple. Two, the amount of connected stories from unrelated people that may point to this thing's overall validity. Yeah, I know I might sound crazy but there's a part of me deep down that believes in some of these things, or more so wants to believe. I personally feel that there has to be some truth to some the things featured here and then some, maybe not to the full extent that the legends revolving around them go but that can be said of just about anything. I think for me, the Mothman embodies my want to believe in these things. There's an air of mystery and foreboding that is unmatched in any other crytpid that I know of; the Mothman has a presence like no other to a point that it quickly transcended the stories of it's sightings into something far worse, a would be prophet of doom, a being that worked it's way out of obscurity and into the main stream almost immediately. For these reasons alone I'd have placed it among the top rankings in this list but I feel the Mothman, while it is fairly well known isn't to the point that the others who are left are. The Mothman came and quickly disappeared almost entirely, keeping it's mystery intact, he not quite the superstar some of these others will be but for me, Mothman will always be my number one pick!
