For those of you not familiar with World of Warcraft, Whisper is cosplaying as Jaina Proudmoore! One of the most renowned mages in the game, and just an absolute badass.
Jaina has a complex, yet interesting background, which makes her all the more interesting (I won’t go too much into too much detail about her since I realize not everyone likes or plays WoW). However, it only seemed appropriate to have Whisper cosplay as her-
And those of you that have been playing the game and raided this expansion, you all remember that lovely Jaina boss fight from BFA, don’t you?
Yeah you do 😐 Good, good times. So many wipes…
An absolutely gorgeous piece done by dannyckoo.
Let me just say it was a pleasure working with Danny: kept me updated throughout the entire drawing process and a very sweet artist to work with…highly recommended! Thank you so much again~

"Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea.”
“Beware,” I heard him cry.
His words carried upon the ocean breeze,
As he sank beneath the tide.
Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor,
Where sailors fought and died.
The Admiral fell at Theramore,
Because she left his side.
Why this? Why this, oh Daughter of the Sea?
Why this? Did you forget your seaside days?
Always the pride of our nation’s eyes,
How could she go astray?
When she did flee across the ocean deep,
The Admiral followed west.
What else but sail to save a daughter’s life,
And pray she still drew breath?
But there he found upon those distant shores,
Enemies ’pon the rise!
But when he faced those savage foes
His daughter stood aside.
And buried deep beneath the waves,
Betrayed by family.
To his nation, with his last breath, cried,
“Beware the Daughter of the Sea.”
“I’m listening now… father.”
I heard, I heard, across a moonlit sea,
The old voice warning me,
“Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea,”
“Beware...beware…of me."

Jaina's been one of those quintessential characters in Warcraft's story since her introduction in WC3 and boy I can say I did not see the direction her character would head into back then! With Reforged coming out it'll be a good reminder for all to see where she "came from" as a character I think!
If there's anything more terrifying than Whisper on her own it's one in which she can wield magic and can summon water elemental friends... gonna say I'll pass up on that raid boss ^_^;

I know! I have really enjoyed watching Blizzard develop Jaina's storyline
Fun fact: Jaina was originally supposed to have been killed off long ago, but they decided to keep her. Very glad they did~
Actually Whisper can wield fire; that is her element- I just do not get her drawn using fire/magic very often. However, she can pull off Jaina so well, I could not resist :)
If Whisper was a fighter AND mage? Woe to her poor adversaries...

If memory serves Blizzard initially intended to let Jaina die as extra motivation for going after Mal'ganis but decided that simply killing the innocents of the kingdom was ultimately enough to invest the players in the storyline (which in my humble opinion, is 100% about the character of Arthas, not so much about his enemy more than as a method to drive him further into darkness). They also intended for either Uther or Antonidas to go to Kalimdor but realised it made little sense for either of the old-school orc-haters to go help out a bunch of them in the Orc Campaign, so they kept the naive and trusting Jaina who wasn't as "wizened" as they were. Seconding your notion, they made the best storytelling choices they possibly could and to this day I still like the story the most of the human campaign. ^^
Woe to the vanquished indeed... curious question though, how good is she at magic? For the sake of balance I'd assume she's not as great as say a trained magi of equal experience as her?

Not as good as she is at wielding weapons and hand-to-hand combat. I did so on purpose though so as not to make her too powerful or have a "God complex" from a storytelling perspective as that would make her too boring if she was able to do everything perfectly. Put it this way, she is much better with a sword than fire, ice, or whatever element she is drawn with and would get her butt kicked by a skilled mage
