The original image was bigger, but alas I lost interest working on it. So have what I did manage to pry out of myself.
||Her eyes were fixated on three little silhouettes. Laying still, as the night sky slowly darkened above them. The circle of life, what a cruel thing it was. "Our bodies become the grass." her father's voice echoed in her head as she watched the first decent near the tiny humps. Eyes watered as she saw those vile creatures inspect their surroundings, leaping closer to what once was hers. Her mate's head rested heavily on her shoulder. "You don't have to watch." He said with a distinct pain in his voice. Pain that she was all to familiar with. Their children laid mere feet away from them. This morning they suckled on her teets, full of life. Within hours they were gone. All accept one... Like it wasn't painful enough already, she'd be reminded of her lost children every time she faced her remaining one.
"It's the last thing I can do for them." She whispered, trying not to have her voice crack, or break down. Something most didn't understand. It's the last act a mother can do for their child. Watch them take part in the Circle of Life. No matter how painful it might be to watch. Being there as their life reaches full circle is something you do out of respect. Least, that's what she thought about it. None ever warned her how awful it was though. As the first beaks reached for her child, her fur bristled. There it was... Her children, now part of the Circle of Life.
Without truly living in it.||
