A size-changing anthro Arctic vixen, seeking adventure from her normally boring life, leaves her race's underground base and enters the world of humans. She does her best to avoid them, until she finds one in particular, one who's always dreamed of meeting someone like her.
Contains some mature themes, although given my target audience it's pretty tame really.
I combined all the separate chapters into one. For those who followed along the way, thanks for your support! If you're just joining us, I hope you enjoy. Please comment. Writers need feedback. And hugs. :D

Wow, well done. An awesome escape into a better world. This totally brightened my day; thank you for sharing. I'm glad you stuck the chapters together and reposted, otherwise I might have missed it.
I lol'd when I saw the guy's full name for the first time. Was that intended to inspire references to the Monty Python song? I guess probably not, but I couldn't help but drag up the mp3 and sing along [poorly] to the refrain.

If you're refering to Oliver Cromwell, what was actually a mistake on my part. I was trying to reference a character in the play A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt (we studied it in school), but I forgot the character there was Thomas Cromwell, not Oliver.
Though I just went to Wikipedia and it seemed Oliver Cromwell was pretty famous anyway, so whatev.
Oh, and thanks for reading.

Yep, he's the one I meant. That's funny that it worked out that way.
And just so people won't think I'm crazy, I found some random person's video with the song in it on youtube, for the curious:

Kinda blatant wish-fulfillment fantasy, it seemed like to me--but I read it anyway, so it wasn't terrible. Things like having the race actually be called Furries ("get the Furry!") and the use of the horrible word "murr" made me wince, I have to say.
I also didn't really buy the happy ending, considering there was so much animosity between the races at the beginning. I suppose it's better than summary execution or forced exile, though!
On the plus side, it was an interesting exploration of the possibilities of size-changing, and you thought out advantages and possible pitfalls well. Thanks for writing this story.
Final, nitpicky note: Food will still have the same amount of calories, no matter how big you are when you eat it. I can buy the smaller forms consuming less energy, but not having a regular-sized person be well-fed after shrinking down to eat. Doubt anyone but science geeks will care, though.

*rubs his paws in glee* Ah! Finally, some criticism! I was starting to think no one around here was man enough to risk hurting my feelings.
I agree, at its base level this is basically what I would ideally like to happen in my life. I bet there are lots who say the same. The truth is that since I can't draw, writing is all I have to make my fantasies come to life. I'm not ashamed.
I agree that Furry does seem a bit fanciful, but really it makes sense as something humans would come up with as a nickname, and an alternative to Anthropomorph. Humans aren't imaginative when it comes to nicknames I've found. A good illustration is District 9, where the prawn-like alien race are referred to as, well, prawns. The cast from the Alien movies never said "The Xenomorphs are attacking!", they called them aliens, or monsters, or "those things".
The word murr is well established in the furry fandom, I didn't invent it. It's the equivalent of a cats purr, but used for non-felines like foxes and canines. I personally believe that other species' would be a little jealous of a cats purr, so they would mimic with their own noise, which we writers call murring. It's a very deeply ingrained part of the fandom, you'd better get used to seeing it, I'm sorry to say.
The ending was happy at the cost of plot, but that's how I roll. Who wants to hear that the military called in backup and airstriked the lot of them?
And I am nothing if not a science geek, so thanks for pointing that out. I didn't think that part through, I just needed a convenient excuse to keep Oliver micro so that he could be shown to his friend riding in Azure's underwear. The mental image and the laughter it gave me was worth any sacrifice in realism.
Thanks for criticising, how else will I improve?

That's a great attitude--I looked over my post after I wrote it and thought I might have been too harsh, but I'm glad you took it in stride.
I'll admit to needing to grow a thicker skin with regards to things like murr. I'm not really a fan of neologisms in general, and words like it and yiff I just find pretty gross. Just a personal hangup, I guess.
Anyway, thanks for the nice response. Keep writing!
