Clean-line color tinted (okay, a little more than just tinted, I've been experimenting and couldn't help myself) sketch of Makoto commissioned by the ever lovely Sapphire. Didn't mean for him to come out looking like a wizard, but he kinda did. ^_^;; Crossing my fingers and hoping that's alright!

The atmosphere in this piece is so thick, one could probably cut it with...one of those pie-serving knives. And then eat it. <3
Absolutely gorgeous work. One of these days, I'll have to save up for a commission from you--there's a character of mine I'd love to see in your style. ;'3

I'm not actually sure if I do or not? I use the lasso tool a lot in photoshop cause the general select-area tool is just too rough and doesn't pick up all of the areas I want even if the area is all the same darn color. (I don't get that.) After selecting areas, I use various brushes of massive size to put in the gradients. That.. might not be as clean looking as if I applied a real gradient (honestly, I don't have enough experience using real gradients to know what I'd be doing with them) but I like a slightly unclean feel anyhow. :)
man, i just had to come back and tell you again how awesome this is.
its nice to see you playing with some color in your digital these days. it just... i dunno. i fucking love your more monotone stuff too, but when you use color, especially digitally for some reason, you really just rock subtlety and lighting and mood with your use of color...
'
every way you work seems to have its own strenths. the monotone stuff is just... so many people shy away from monotone and feel they have to put things in color. you have become a master of tone by doing so much of it, you use it beautifully, and the subtle tints you give it just... finish it off. and then your colored pencil work is just astonishing, really showing what that medium can produce - the smooth finish you give it is unlike any other colored pencil work i've ever seen, and while you can rock that smoothness, you also are so capable of giving things texture and different qualities - things that are meant to seem soft seem soft, things that are meant to seem harder seem harder. i dunno fi that makes sense, but it just has a very tangible quality while still being in that style that is so unmistakably arph. and i was just singing the praises of your color digital. again, subtle use of light and color theory -intuitive, on purpose, i've no idea, but whatever you are doing it works.- over that already expert use of tone is just amazing.
not to mention the style through out each finish is just... ngh. its simple in some ways, but god, at the same time, every little detail seems so carefully articulated. the characters always have such life, movement, and dear lord - EMOTION. you have the ability to, with the curve of a tail, the slightest lower of an ear... all t hose little things you seem to pay such close attention to in your art, to elicit such strong emotional reactions from your audience.
i just had to take this chance, since i'm here and thinking of it, to just gush a bit about what makes your art great.
your art takes "furry" to a whole new level of high illustration. hell your work just transcends furry - no matter what an onlooker things of the fandom, i think just about anyone of any fandom or artistic persuation can look at your work and just go... wow.
gush = over. now i must sleep.

Gah! Aw.. Well geez. ^_^;; I have to admit, adding more colors into my digital stuff still feels like a huge learning process with each image. x_x I'll explain why that actually goes beyond simply wanting-to-learn on aim or something later. Me and doing digital stuff have an awkward history I think. (Me being ever late in the game as far as technology is a big part of it.)
Anyhoo, wow, that was a long and thoughtful comment you wrote there. You've never been shy in telling me that you've enjoyed my work but its always wonderful to find out in what ways. Thank you for that. <3
