a sword isn't going to get you across the water, (unless there's a whole lot more to its magic then that of being a sword),
and metal armor is totally not good for swimming in.
it doesn't make a very good ax normally either, but you might be able to chop down enough wood to make some kind of a raft.
how you'd navigate a sea like that in something you could make that way sure would be a mystery all right,
but then of course, just because of what we're seeing might not be what they're looking for after all.
the tools of war are really seldom useful or practical for very much else.
(one of my major bones to pick with most of rp gaming and what most players seem to want to play in it)
lovely place though. i wonder if the party is really seeing it, or too intent on some further goal to notice.
and calmer days will surely come to those with the patience to wait for them.
perhaps the magic user might have a sea calming spell, and that one guy who looks aquatic could probably swim over there by himself.
(but probably couldn't swim back with anything of any great mass)
now if it was me, i might be interested in rebuilding that bridge, that's what would interest and inspire me.
