The story, for those interested ---

Dobby is our little street rat I found last year. This mongeral thought he'd be slick and steal a lick from one of the others bowls - which she showed her unappreciation with a bite in the face!
How it was explained to me was the bite caused him to bite down so hard he ruptured a tooth abcess he already had that we didn't know about, causing the infection to rapidly spread and give him the wicked facial swelling you can see here!
He ended up with emergency dental surgery, removing 5 teeth. He's still in a lot of pain but will feel better once it heals
And now that the rotten teeth are gone, I'll be able to maintain a daily brushing schedule (once he heals, yes I brush my dogs teeth every day, you should too!) and hopefully prevent anymore future problems! It's hard when you find them later in life! :'(
