Looks like Barton has found the most curious spell book and is busy trying to examine it, figure it out and such. For one of the spells, he called upon Ken to provide a bit of assistance. Said spell was supposed to create 'absorbable paws'. So, Barton wanted to try it, to see if it works. Especially since it seems a bit complex.
In practice, though, it seems to be working well, as Ken's already dipping into Barton's paw there~ :3
