Yeah, hand gestures are amazing, especially if you look at some orchestra conductors :D
For the hat I absent-mindedly drawn one I found at a store yesterday, but it looks a lot like the talking hat from harry potter, no forethought went into it

Very good! X) With such a brush-broom you can use a broad 'palette' of spells ;P
Yeah, not to mention they are kinda tricky because hands themselves are such complex apparatuses! Apparates? Apparatii? <.<
After all, even in Harry Potter the sorting hat is, well, an old hat, so I don't believe they could claim copyright of an old hat!
