Day 30 of Toontober 2 is Royalty!

The Great War happened in the midst of an uptick in nationalist and revolutionary movements. In its wake, with the former great empires left as broken shells of their former glory, a number of these movements seized the opportunity to take power for themselves. A common first move would be the arrest and execution of the local aristocracy, who were perceived as guilty of instigating and perpetuating the war.

This girl is a political refugee from one such nation. The last survivor of a minor noble house, she and her retinue were ambushed by rebel forces as her family was attempting to flee the country. Although her bodyguards managed to fight the revolutionaries off and escape, the rest of her family was killed, and she herself was severely wounded. Her life was saved when her family's doctor grafted her head onto an animatronic servant body (Automaton servants having been a popular fad among the nobility for some time), using procedures developed over the course of the war. Since then, the so-called 'clockwork princess' has become a minor international celebrity, though of course there is still an official warrant for her arrest in her home country.
