February. That usually means only one thing and I couldn't care less for it. The moment I can't platonicly tell friends I love them, without them thinking I'm asking for their hand in marriage, it breaks the deal for me.
BUT.
February is also for another day for me. A week long celebration with booze, good food and MONEY. Much better than Cheap Chocolate and Naked Baby Archer day.
There were also disucssions about how limited the banners were, featuring only american seasonal events when the whole world is on this site. Needs more global exposure. So instead of being Mr Grumpy Pants, I decided to channel my grump elsewhere.
Used Rednef because a dragonny thing is more appropriate than a rat in a blue tie, and used 財 (cái) because it means wealth, which FA is always apparently short of.
TL;DR
GLUTTONY AND EXCESS BEATS NAKED WINGED ARCHER BABY.
don't mind the durp face. Since this will never be used, I'm not inclined to fix it up any further.
EDIT: This is NOT final, but a work-in-progress. Since it won't be used anyway and I ran out of patience for the day, I left it as it is. Might tweak on my own time.

i agree that the banners should not be restricted to american-based D8< this is indeed a world-wide website. man it would've been epic if januarys banner had australia day XD bloody middle of summer here!
and i love this banner more than i'd love a valentines day banner methinks. I mean, valentines day is a lovely day if you're in a relationship or you do manage to get the person you were after, but it can be incredibly depressing for people who haven't been so lucky with relationships, are lonely, or recently had a breakup etc.
This is the kind of banner that everyone can enjoy, and I like your use of the wealth sign like a good-luck charm sort of thing for FA as FA is lacking in funds.

This is a really lovely banner-- I can't believe they've never had one for CNY before, but I guess you're right! It seems like a NATURAL choice considering people do make a fair deal about whatever the particular animal of the year is!
I'd love to see more banners for other holidays and the fact that other regions of the world are in completely different climates than we are here. Even though the servers are based stateside, Fender and Rednef would totally be visiting places around the world and at least sending postcards, right? XD

And it's not really detailly, just colorful.
I don't know... I like the contrast between the cherry blossoms and the firecracker bursts, and the fact that you incorporated the coins, and you could have had the site name on anything, but the scroll is a nice touch. Maybe they're details that are fairly synonymous with the holiday, but it still shows how much thought you put into making a design that is unmistakable.
I'll have to think about making other banners myself. I'm hesitant to do things that I'm not fully schooled on, I'd rather leave it to someone with more authority on the topic! I feel like if I do ones for holidays here, I'll just be rehashing the norm... but that may be a good reason to try, anyway.

This is epic! I'm glad it got used even though you thought that it never would. It makes the banners more diverse an it applies to many of our Chinese members who deserve just as much respect as those who live in Australia, America, England, France, Germany, etc. We need to have more banners that truly show how diverse this site is, and to show how large the fandom has become!
Well I suppose you could always ask her, though I don't think she's into that. :P
