(Art made in 2014)
Coby was designed to be an elite football player, amongst the very best. However with Cornerbacks their stats don't necessarily reflect their impact on the field most of the time. (Which is how the Darrelle Revis vs Richard Sherman debate came about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qa4S-31iU0 ) So I knew I had to make a little noise some other way in the league rather than JUST by play.
At this point IRL I was trying to establish Coby as the league's most known character (popularity is relative) by interaction or participating in events with as many of the other characters/agents/coaches in both the FBA and UFFL. He was originally a loveable idiot who sometimes says things out of line and gets punished for it. To me, season 1 Coby Carson was the best incarnation of the character.
But all honeymoon phases eventually come to an end. It wouldn't be until years later that I'd realize why Coby's character initially worked as opposed to his later incarnations, but it was from my experimentation that I learned a lot about the do's and don'ts of character personality and consistency, which helped me in future projects.
