Foggy Mountain Breakdown (escape of bonny and clyde) Banjo
I got board so I picked up my banjo and tried to see how fast I could play:)
Ps, this had all of 10 views by the time it went off the front page of FA. I have finally found something that irritates even furries! I shall be bringing my banjo to AFF!

it could be better, my banjo technique is odd. I only use two fingers instead of 3, and I use my finger nails instead of picks. This means that when i play something I have to ignore the roll that was originally written for the song. I think it makes things sound a bit off sometimes. This song doesn't show it as much. but anywayz thanks^^
Well, I don't know much about banjo technique (nor music for that matter! sadly, it's an instrument with a very characteristic sound). I remember reading a book on playing baroque music (pre-bach) and they used to play scales on the harpsichord using only three fingers (with the fourth being used to start/end the scale) when now four fingers are used (with the fifth to start/end the scale).
I don't know how that applies to banjos, but I couldn't tell that there was anything wrong!

This definitely doesn't irritate me--I'm a fellow banjo picker. I'll be learning that Scruggs tune here pretty soon actually. Oh and some advice on the sound of your banjer--you might ought to get the head tightened a bit and loosen the tailpiece's pressure on the bridge. Also, a small wad of rag or socks in between the truss rod and the head (close to the neck, not directly under the bridge) will help your banjo sound a little more punchy and fuller toned. :3
I could do all those things myself :) Have you seen my other profile lol? http://www.furaffinity.net/user/ajguitarfox
I have the head loos on purpose. I like the dead tone it has because most of the time I find that failing a banjo with a tight head doesn't quiet sound right. I cant 3 finger pick anyway so it doesn't bother me.

I'll definitely go check it out. ;3
I see, you've got the head set to your taste, and that's what counts. Still though, if you ever want to experiment and lose some of the hollow gourd-like sound, you could still put a sock wad in it (Pete Seeger claimed diapers worked very well X3). I do both clawhammer and three-finger and sort of prefer a tighter head (though not TOO tight lol). The banjo I currently own is a Washburn B-9 that has a solid cast-aluminum rim and has a lot of sustain so I usually have something stuck in it to make it a little more 'plunky.' I've long since kept the resonator off of it...gives it that old time sound and feel. Anywho, I'll quit rambling. XP
