Last year I think, while I was looking for something to do, I took an old drawing from roughly a year and half ago or so done by my good friend Giz of our two characters hanging out together and bein' cool and decided to color it. Anyway, had only half-colored it for a day or two to the best of my knowledge, and then left it there.
The other day I was looking through my files on here and came across it again, and having left the half-colored sketch untouched for about a year, I decided to try and finish it this time while still finishing up my friend's extremely belated birthday gift on the side. Didn't feel like adding shading though, because I never really intended this to be a full project and it was never like it was an official collaboration to begin with. Had some difficulty thinking up a background, but seeing as how both of our characters are based on the Sonic style and that Sonic started in Japan, I was a bit influenced by that.
Not expecting anyone to be able to read the kanji, or Japanese text, on the sides, so I'll decipher it (had to look it up myself):
On Reign's side (left), the red lettering is repeated twice on the top/bottom and translates to "needle mouse", which in turn translates to "hedgehog". The light blue text in the middle translates to "freedom", to represent Reign's love of the very concept as well as my own.
On Zero's (his tiger character) side (right), the black lettering is repeated twice on the top/bottom and translates to "tiger". The green text in the middle translates to "peace", to represent Zero's/Giz's peaceful mentality and pursuit of it.
Just to note, I preserved Giz's original signature from the original sketch and appears in the top left corner.
Although I definitely love the original sketch done by him, I hope I did it some kind of justice in colored form myself. Took forever to finish up. Not one of my best, especially with the lame effects/arrangement, but I tried.
Again, Reign and Zero were not drawn by me. Just colored, and the rest of the effects were thrown in also by me.
Thanks again Giz, you're one of the coolest artists out there and an even cooler friend.

You do know I didn't originally draw this, right? Can't take credit except for coloring in the original sketch, the background, and adding in the rest of the effects.
