Synopsis:
A 20 year old man longs for a life free of his mental restrictions. For the last 4 years he has been living in the shadow of his father’s success, and suffering on his own since his death. He’s lost countless jobs due to his strange social behaviours. Shane likes to hide the fact that he’s suffering from Bi-polar 1 disorder and has a hard time staying in a consistent mood on a daily basis. Along with that, he often experiences strange visions of a sort of parallel universe (Which turns out to be our world). Almost like a life he had once. Something that turns out badly. Something he’s trying to prevent.
When Shane isn’t tinkering on thinks or playing his piano, he’s usually working on a contraption he calls the spirit finder, which can locate parts of himself across parallel universes. He dreams of having Eternal Life.
When a human dies in this universe, their soul remains trapped in Tallania (The Planet). It is said that many thousands of years ago, their God closed off the way to the heavens as punishment for being so cruel towards each other. Souls without vessels are dangerous. Ones with strong enough Wills to go on will find a new host. Be it, animals, objects, even other living people. Plus the various monsters and ancient dragons roaming all of Isapan, make this a dangerous Land to live in.
The World is split into two main Kingdoms. Xardan, where Shane is from, is a mostly modern city in the style of London mixed with San Francisco. Isapan, however is more medieval based, yet only in style. They do have their own dangerous weapons mixed with magic.
After Shane loses his job, a hooded figure suggests to him while in a Bar one evening to prepare himself for the upcoming war no one else knows about. He tells him to check out an old abandoned factory in the woods, hinting that a magical orb inside will give him incredible strength. Shane contemplates this and decides to lie about being Bi-polar from then on.
Shane does just that and the next thing he knows, the orb transports him into the enemy land, right in the woods of Isapan. Some of the kingdom takes inspiration from ancient greece in architecture. In this land, they have no protection against the hostile souls in need of bodies. Plus Shane is now frequently ambushed by Isapanian soldiers. Shane makes his way into the palace after changing his clothes. There he sees the opportunity for adventure. He decides to sign up for basic training. He knows he would be fighting for the wrong side, but a part of him just doesn’t care.
On board the Main Military aircraft, the FLC - 627 (AKA the Floating City), Shane meets and falls in love with Hallith. The two of them decide its best to turn against the Isapanian Army and run away together. They Both leave the floating city and become citizens in Isapan.
One year later, Shane and Halith are captured and brought before the King of Isapan for high treason. Shane immediately recognizes the King from his past dreams. Shane realizes this has happened before, only under different circumstances. Shane and the King battle each other one on one. When the King falls by the hands of Shane, a large portal opens, it is then revealed to him that his whole life was mapped out and heavily influenced by himself from another universe. However, this Shane is called Lazarus. He made a device called the Life Machine which would map out parts of his spirit in every dimension. He was looking for the version of himself he considered to be perfect. Lazarus is after Shane’s life and wishes to swap lives with him stating that he’s being going from universe to universe, switching lives with other versions of himself. Never once has he been in love before. Lazarus challenges the other Shane to a complicated duel.
After the Fight, Shane Destroys the life machine, knowing now that he doesn't need to live forever. However, he does lose a hand during his battle with the alternate him. He’s willing to compromise his music piano playing to live the rest of his life with Hallith and restore Isapan to its former glory.

This game will be worth it just for the soundtrack. There is so much to feel in this piece, and it really paints a picture in the mind. Great music is one big facet of video games qualifying as forms of artwork (and there are several games I've gotten the soundtracks for just because they were so magnificent).
