My secondary "Lunacorn" char...She only has her wings when she's in anthro form, and she only takes on anthro form during the full moon. She's named "Luna" not just because she's part luna moth, but also because she has a crescent, moon-shaped horn, and is connected with the moon's phases as well as nighttime in general. The rest of the time, she just appears as a wingless, non-anthro, deer-based unicorn, with some equine aspects (mane, hoof feathering, long tail tuft, etc., though deer are also known to have slight manes) and luna moth colors/markings.
Her wings are a cross between two species of luna moths, Actias Luna (American moon moth): http://pluckinthaguitarra.deviantar.....-Moth-63085188 and Actias Selene (Indian moon moth): http://www.dannesdjur.com/bilder/ac.....s_selene_2.jpg ...The upper pair of wings borrow their shape from Actias Selene, and the lower pair from Actias Luna. The shape of the eyespots are based on those of Actias Luna, but they are pink like those of Actias Selene and resemble actual eyes (in this case, albino eyes, because I have a passion for albino and leucistic animals). The undersides of the wings have the same markings, but are overall paler in hue. This particular image happens to be a heavily-stylized concept design for a stained glass "suncatcher" that I hope to have made by CommodoreMarie; she does awesome work! :)
Btw, the flowers are stencil patterns from here: http://www.stencil-library.com/ (I just needed *something* to fill in a bit of all that white space!)

I was just thinking about this yesterday when going through your new art posting and seeing your notice about being back here on FA. I'm hoping to get started on this very soon! Ideally I was going to have it done last month, but it didn't happen due to work issues - bleck! But I have some days off coming up in the middle of the month, so I think I can get it done then. I have the perfect pink glass - I need to get some pictures to send you soon!
OMG, yay!! I sooooooooo can't wait to see what you come up with!! :D Btw, I might change the shape of her muzzle marking (that little darker pink stripe) to look more like it does on the mask pic I posted, but otherwise, everything is the same. And her wings look bluish in this pic, but they are supposed to be pale green (the scanner just wouldn't cooperate). :P Please refer to her wings on the "Carried Away" pic or the "Embrace the Moon" pic, because the colors scanned much better there. :)
I feel like it's been ages since I wanted to start work on this project - dang school and work getting in the way far more than expected. But summer vaccay is here, and I don't start work at the court for another week so now's my perfect opportunity to get cracking! She's going to be a fun challenge, and I'm looking forward to all the detail. Sent this to the bigboss to get his thoughts on size and any necessary structural changes (hopefully none!) that he thinks need to be made. I'll vet all those with you to make sure it's all good. Were there any changes you wanted to the overall pattern, by the way? And I'll snap some pictures of some of the glass I have (another thing I've been meaning to do for ages, but I should be home tomorrow and it's all nicely stacked there) tomorrow. Duly noted about wing color!
*squees all over the place* :D :D :D The only changes would be the muzzle markings (would like them to look like they do on the Lunacorn mask), but I can redline those for you when you get ready to cut the pieces for the head (let me know!). :) Thanks, again, hon! OMG SO EXCITED!!! <3<3<3
