Cutest otter picture ever. That aside, this is quite catchy. To help with the clipping, I recommend using side-chaining with the atmospheric pad and the lead synth, so that the atmospheric pad quiets down a bit when the lead's volume is high. Now, I don't know what music program you use, but if you use Fruity Loops (or even if you don't), check this tutorial video out:

Kev Willow's videos can drone on and on at times, but even if you don't use FL Studio, this might give you an idea on how to do it in this.
Also I completely relate to your frustration and desire to have something actually finished one day. I seem to tend to follow this routine where I get some shit started, have some songs on the way, and then my computer spontaneously combusts into flames and I am forced to start from scratch, losing my work and often a good deal of the virtual instruments library with it.
