Only decent thing I can say about the first AVP was that the creature effects (especially for the Xenomorphs) looked really damn good. Other than that, too watered-down, too much emphasis on humans, a Predator falling in love with a human, and a general lack of good Predator on Xenomorph action (no, not that kind of action). I was not amused.
