Welcome all to the 4th addition to the experimental series. This time it was trying out a new style, drawing position, shading technique, brush and backdrops/background featuring a friendly wee Pachirisu!
The drawing position
Normally I would have my drawing screen up by about 70 degrees and draw on it from either level to or below the screen, i noticed my wrist feels really awkward drawing like that, and sometimes cannot get the lines I am aiming for. This time I tried raising my seating position and flattening the monitor so I was drawing down onto it like a sheet of paper, this feels much more natural for me and I feel much more confident drawing on a flat plate like this, hopefully with this development my drawings will improve drastically.
Style
I also put more focus on how I construct the image and paid closer attention to the sizing of body parts in relation to each other also using reference images. Ill be brutally honest im not keen on my own style and how it looks... to me it looks really primitive and I just really dont like it, so that says a lot about viewers actually having to look at it ahaa...
Shading
The shading and the brush to be honest are tied together here. the new brush I am using here is the "pencil" brush (always existed within the program just never used it until now) The brush is how I managed to get the watercolor effect and to get the shading all I have to do is press harder and softer in spots depending what the image needs which is much closer to what im used to when going traditional.
Brush
As fore-mentioned this is the "Pencil" brush, which unlike the "Pen" brush I normally use has the ability to become transparent as you are drawing with it in relation to the pen pressure. For some reason this feels much more comfortable to me to draw with, just have to pay closer attention to my layers as to not cross the lines too much
Backdrop
The backdrop is nothing exiting, however It allowed me to experiment with the pencil prush some more and experiment with its opacity this allowed a opaque spot in the center and pink edges
Anyways I hope you like it and let me know for any ideas or changes you would like to see, or if there is anything that could see improvement (of course there is plenty to go round but its good to have more than one set of eyes on it!) :>
Cheers
