I used to think like you, believe me. Computers took the "Art" out of "Architecture." It took me a long time to wrap my head around it and I was on the leading edge of the changes in the companies I worked for.
It doesn't really take less time to do the work though. You still have to draw the bulk of the drawings and reuse components and standard sheets. But because it's so easy to make changes, you end up making more of them than you would with hand drawn documents.
Computers have their place in art and media now. It's integration is getting better with every year that passes. When I look back at Oliver & Company, the first disney film to utilize computer animated segments, I can see the improvements.

I know. I have seen how it works and all. but however. I Hate how computers kill the indivudual note of linework. Look at all the computer lineworks all around. they are so clean, no characteristics. I rather spent hours with ink, and changing pen after pen. I just hate how clean the lines are on the comp. If you use a 0.1 pen you always have parts where the line is a bit thinner or broader. on PC it stays 0.1.
