Finished up the portrait of Sira and Adra, River's parents.
I'd like to think that in the midst of the chaos that is planet Tal, Sira and Adra would find moments of peace and serenity. Not all love has to be purely sexual.
Adra arrived in the Eltus plant village when she was young, Sira already lived there, his family were often the protectors of the village. They were excellent at weeding out talyxian plant life and keeping the village clear and safe. Adra, having shown wonderful aptitude for growing Eltus plants, had been sent to live in the village. Sira was one of the first people to greet her, being around the same age as the newcomer. From that point, the two had struck up a long lived friendship. They went off cavorting with other sergals like most sergals did but they often shared more nights together than not. Their friendship grew over the years, they played and entertained, told stories to each other, saved each other's necks more than once. Sira was often a trouble maker and Adra had a knack for getting him out of trouble with the village elders. The elders had their eyes on the duo but allowed them to continue their duties as they both grew up to becomes masters at what they did.
Adra had many issues when it came to conceiving children. Most other sergals their age already had one or two kids for the village to bring up. At one point Sira wondered if it was he who was the issue and urged Adra to try with someone else, perhaps it would work then. For a few weeks it seemed like it had until her body rejected the pregnancy. Adra grew distraught, as part of this village, her other duty was to bear at least one child to help pass on the knowledge and skills needed to keep the Eltus plants alive. The elders noticed her lack of ability and brought in a shaman to see if they could help. Adra was given a juice to drink, some sort of potion to help with fertility. The shaman assured it was Adra and not Sira who had issues, but he guaranteed the juice would help. Adra spent the night in a daze filled with haunting dreams and images that would make a Nevrean faint. They were told to try again the next day when she awoke from her dreams. A few weeks passed and it was clear that the pregnancy took this time. Sira often wanted to spend as many moments as he could next to his friend and mother of his child. He was sometimes called out for a tour when a hoard of talyxians would appear. So the couple learned to savor every moment they could, life wasn't easy. The child was born to be River. While the village helped to raise the young one, the parents often obsessed over her, being that she was more or less a miracle child!
