Cinders
Pyre’s Messenger
A Messenger is an amalgamation of a lost soul and it’s bound Daevis. Usually only made by Realm Walkers, these creatures are usually used as messengers within the Gates. Generally softer, kind souls are used as a base as souls with more volatile natures are harder to tame.
Not all Daevis take on Messengers due to the amount of life-force needed to keep a soul safely bound. If they act like a complete idiot and manage to get harmed it reflects back to their Master to some extent, both physically and mentally, while also giving the poor Daevis a big dent in their reputation.
Pyre - being an Exile already - gives zero fucks, and so Cinders was born.
Name: Cinders
Health of Bond: Recent, Strong.
Gender: Fluid
Preferred pronouns: They/We – PLURAL pronouns. We are Many.
Soul Species: Main spirit – Old Human; Sub spirits – Young Humans.
Converted Species: Moth
Height: Small. 3’4. She is the TINY.
Nature: Naughty
Personality: Curious, sweet, vengeful. The softest little thing till something irks them, then they starts biting. A lot. Easily holds a grudge.
Title: The Star’s Cinders.
Job: Long distance messenger; secretarial work.
The Contract: For as long as Pyre swears to protect (and gives Cinders full reign on her revenge spree) then Cinders swears to stay bound. A contract is not usually needed, but Cinders is not a normal binding by any means.
Backstory: Cinder was, originally, an orphanage Mother. Though she lived a poor life, it was filled with love and she lived it with zero regrets. No, what she truly regretted was her death.
In her mind, there was no rhyme or reason to her demise. Someone decided she was no longer needed, and so she was killed. The orphanage was given to another. Usually, seeing her work being continued would be enough to send a soul to peace. But she stayed, stayed to watch. Stayed long enough to see the reasons why.
The unspeakable acts which drove her to vengeance were many, were terrible. Children’s cries – no, HER children’s cries, were enough to drive the once calm spirit into a destructive rage. One strong enough to rip into the land of the living, strong enough to destroy those who harmed.
At first, it was not enough. She was just one, and the living are strong. Then, slowly, her children joined her. Tiny sparks, barely strong enough to stay alight; all that was left of their battered and beaten lives. Those she had loved with her entire being, and who loved her too.
Together, they swarmed.
By the time Pyre came across her soul, the orphanage had long since been destroyed. Burned, frozen, a whirlwind of elements that crushed all who dared to try and settle there. All, but the children.
The hefty payment for the removal of such a foul being was high. The town, now a shadow of what Cinder had once inhabited, wanted her gone. People who did not know the story, cared not to listen, wished for their destruction. Money is money, and Pyre is greedy, so there was total understanding that the job would be done to her highest quality.
They tried to kill her. Of course they would. Pyre is as adult as they get, if not more. It did no good. The thunderstorm of rage could crash around her all it liked; she’d removed worse. Survived more. Yet, as her creed demanded, she waited before their destruction. Allowed the storm to roar it’s story, and listened with all her being. And felt that pang of understanding. Of family.
The offer was simple, and answered swiftly. Join, or leave. And with a rumble and a bolt, Cinders was born.
A mother and her children, together as one. Together as many.
Pyre, of course, was denied payment for this. Destroy, not convert. So Cinders bit them, and they continued off together.
