An absolutely amazing painting! I think one of the most breathtaking things here is the face and actual body of the animal - a lot of peacock artwork focuses on the grand tail and doesn't really pay much attention to the personality of these guys. I've been around peacocks a lot during the later years of my life - while working at a conservatory and while volunteering at a game farm. They're great animals, and it's really awesome that you add some information along with your art! Cheers all around.
That is...oh my gosh. That is so BEAUTIFUL.
I love peacocks. I used that as the theme for the colors in my wedding, and had their tail feathers in our bouquets and on my invitations. I gave my maids little peacock jewel boxes as gifts.
I'd love a big print of this, if you ever make them.

Definitely worth clicking 'full view' to see this and a shame it can't be viewed at its original size over the internet. Peacocks are one of my favourite birds but I shy away from drawing them because of the complexity of their tail and the massive investment of time required to get it right, I'm really pleased that you didn't though.
I bet she probably could.. that's kind of a scary thought.... actually..
When I was little, and we went to the zoo, I was the only little kid that wouldn't chase the peacocks, and so they would come up to me and be all "WHY AREN'T YOU CHASING ME?!" :3 Random story of my past. Aren't you happy?

Oh yeah, those colors are crazy. In fact, I took the painting to my printmaker and asked how much it would be to get it archived (professionally photographed and digitally enhanced for printing) and I was floored. Apparently, the amount of colors in an artwork effects the price.
That is easily one of the best, most detailed pieces of art that I've ever seen, bar none! It's fantastic to say the least and well composed. As a matter of fact it's so lovely that it nearly makes me wanna cry; I find it that well done. I would imagine that you're very proud (as a peacock) of this piece and you should be!
I've just started toying around with acrylics today as a matter of fact and my results are a little less than stunning, awful really. I hope to get better before I "kick it". X)
The color and lighting effect you achieved is to die for!
You did good and have given me inspiration.

Thank you so much! All the hard work I put into it was well worth it. It took three years to get the guts to try something like this. Confidence goes a long way. Thankfully I didn't get in over my head. Practice does wonders. I'm sure with practice you can do something like this too! I haven't had any professinal training (started painting right after high school, with only a week or two of other basic instruction). That proves practice and trail & error to be the best teacher. YOU CAN DO IT! *cheers*
*hugs* Thanks for the very positive comments and encouragement. I'm much the same, but starting a bit later in life then I'd prefer. I'm jumping in and painting! At least something other than cel painting, which I've been doing for a time. All I can do is start and see where it leads me.
I look forward to your next piece! :)
