Since I'm on the side of the Core here, I'm curious if the Core can bounce back from this. Then again, there's no way in hades that Roody would reveal this to the public at large, since that would mean more attention on him, and those connected to him, and risk exposing himself. He's too self-serving to risk that, even when facing the singularity right in the face. So the Core can still bounce back from this.

well, the core knows about Roody, and Roody midly knows about the core know, and both sides don't want undesirable attention. So, we will see who strikes first and who will commit the first mistake.

The core of course has a lot more resources to draw upon, but also needs to be more cautious. On the other hand, the core DOES likely have more experience and it likely had to start small when it conquered its own world before, while Roody has never been up against another mind-control player before.

Though it's a question now if the guy who spied on the core will go to the authorities himself... which Roody wouldn't care for since it would might draw attention to him too. Hopefully for the core's sake, Roody would be too concerned with keeping his operation hidden than willing to expose himself when facing a cosmic level threat.

Also... there's a question, did the Roody drone have a similar personality and attitude in his native universe? Thus would the core know how Roody thinks? Or were they very different people due to timeline divergence?

I need to know. Do you still intend to continue this? I'm actually invested in what happens next!
