AKA Trendmasters Biollante
This is a sketch I originally made for Inktober 2017; the prompt was "gigantic", and I kept imagining what the Trendmasters Biollante would be like if Yuji Sakai sculpted her. I certainly had that in mind during the coloring process.
I had considered coloring it way earlier, but never really got around to it for whatever reason. Well, fast forward to a few days ago, there's another stupid Facebook group bootlegging artwork, one of which is this sketch (see link below), but colored by someone else. And it's not the first time I've seen it happen, either. I'd like to know who colored it, because they did a fairly decent job on it. But especially if they're involved with these bootleg sales, they need to know that doesn't give them the right to sell it. I guess I felt a bit obligated to color it, even if it is kinda like damage control to some degree.
I did get rather ambitious with the way I colored this as well. Rather than simply using flat colors and shading them, I started off with a base coat of blue, then added a "texture" layer using the pressure opacity and a homemade "brush" style (all of this in GIMP, btw). To really break in new XP-Pen Deco Pro tablet (this thing RAWKS SO HARD), I went with my more complex shading/highlighting method to (rather literally) top it off.
