Yes, it wears a blindfold. Well not really, since it just looked glued on the front view, no continuation of the fabric as you can see on the reference sheet. His eyes are sensitive to light. The fabric is not thick, so he can still see.
Why not use a black sunglasses?
Because it's on purpose to be more aesthetic [default dance]
