I'm doodling Mimics today! The first is a pair that work together to form a Labrador Retriever puppy. I was brainstorming what things people would be attracted to & want to touch. These have mouths located on the forehead & shoulders, places that a person normally would pet a dog.
The larger of the 2's arms are more like muscular tentacles that flex all around to walk, direct its eyes & scare its prey. Its back legs can walk 'forwards' when disguised, side-step when standing upright or 'backwards' with the tail outstretched to slash at enemies. The bell attached to the Mimic's 'neck' is genuine & jingles to attract prey as well as add to its cuteness. I added a little blade to the tail's tip to give a hint that it's a monster, a small detail that experienced adventurers could notice & tell that it's not as it appears to be. The head Mimic's eyes are completely decorative & have no lids. It uses magic to float & can bounce when grounded.
