Facial Marking Experiments featuring Crisis
I have a bit of an interest in body art and have seen some characters with interesting designs on them, so I thought I'd give it a go. I decided to use my character, Crisis (in human form), as a model and reused a head from when I was doing the expression meme thing so I wouldn't have to draw a new one. My understanding is that being a professional means knowing when to take shorcuts. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Crisis is the one I most easily picture with body art, anyway. I may try to expand these to full-body designs later.
The top row are based on tribal designs I found during a Google image search. The first three are Native American, and the one on the far right is African-inspired. I've taken some liberties with them, particularly the ones where the designs go down to the chest.
The two on the lower left are inspired by characters I've seen on art sites. I can't exactly say I remember which ones or who owns them, but I'm confident these designs are dissimilar enough to not be an issue. This in particular is the kind of marking I was set on doing with Crisis, and after I was done with the second one I realized it looked kinda like lace. I'm not sure why her skin seems lighter here.
The last two are a sort of "Species" idea I had. Humanoids with biolumenescent patterns in their skin, hair, and eyes. Probably other places, too. Basically, they glow in the dark (and probably under black lights). There might be a bit of a kabuki influence here, too.
