Demonic Unicarn Sculpture Pendant, Monster Carnivore Unicorn
Presenting 'Exspiravit' my very first WEARABLE Unicarn! Woooo.
Usually these beasties are stand-alone busts or wall displays, but not this one. Unfamiliar with Unicarns? They are magically murderous beasts from the dark side of my imagination, you see. They prefer live meat over cupcakes and they'll dance on your ribcage before they dance on a rainbow. They do however like virgin maidens just as much as any normal unicorn....just not for the standard-issue reasons that fairy tales have taught us. :O
This ghastly white mare's name means ghost in latin. She is an original polymer clay sculpture that uses a real american opossum skull as the base, so those teeth you see are (mostly) real. Her forelock and partial mane is real horsehair in a natural creamy white with a few streaks of dyed blue. She is hand sculpted and hand painted with black 'shark eyes' and hair/skin details, blackened cracked lips, an absolutely hideous mouth with scaly tongue, copious glitter-infused slobber, mottled gums and fearsome teeth that bristle from her jaws like dirty railroad spikes. Her white coat has a pearly shimmer and her teeth have been stained with walnut dye for a properly 'used' look.
A spiraled gunmetal silver horn rises from a nest of handmade red roses and green leaves with a curling vine or two. What is a unicorn without flowers, after all?
Besides being a wearable pendant on a thick gunmetal chain, this wicked mare has one more unique trait among my Unicarns: her wild forelock and partial mane of real white and blue-streaked horsehair can be styled! I usually trim and style Unicarn hair myself using a stiffening clear epoxy as part of the art process, but I came to rather like this mare's long locks while I was working on her and decided to leave them 'natural.' The end result is a feral banshee-like appearance with a forelock and mane that her new owner can comb, curl or trim as they see fit, and how fun is that? When being worn as a pendant her forelock and mane reaches clear to the abdomen on the average person, making for a badass visual that draws attention from a distance. Her hair responds to a hot curling iron or can be braided...heck, you can apply barrettes, bows or even dye it! Hell yeah.
Exspiravit is 5 inches snout to ears and 4 inches jaw to horn tip. She hangs on an 18 inch stout gunmetal chain with lobster clasp; the chain is attached to eyelets drilled into the back of her upper jaw. She isn't as heavy as she looks - about 6 ounces not counting her chain.
Wanna bring her home? She is for sale on my FB and Etsy (USA sales only) I am willing to allow up to three split payments on her!
