Crowley seems like a reasonable bloke once you get to know him. I'd be interested how he knows whats above on each level, but in the end could just be a theory he has, there are many manner of reasonable choices here and seems a bit disrespectful not to choose them such as making a new friend.

Objection!: Fear. Right now, given our immediate pressing situation, I'm most interested in Crowley, who he is as a person and what makes him tick. What is he like. This is to see if there's something, er, "human"izing about him and whether we could actually get along or not.

Objection! Vagueness. Approval! Appeal to Pastoralism. This line of questioning might have something to do with our lost memories. And Crowley's a smart guy, but his lack of ambition and bravery speaks to a less-than-useful companion on the battlefield. If he wants to not be attacked, this is realistically his best solution.
