In context, I found Entei's comment in the 3rd panel interesting... mainly because that is the attitude I had with the new games. My old Pokémon would be still safe in my old games, but I would not lock myself out of new ones. Besides, the badge system is explicitly designed wi the purpose of prohibiting you from trading an überstrong Pokémon that just powers through the game... a sad reality if you plan of bringing your old friends to the new game. You are supposed to make new friends in the games, not lock yourself into your old ones.
