In this case, McClaw learned to deal with small nuisances in his (large, extended) family by giving them a "time out" on a convenient, out-of-the-way hook. (Duct tape and other methods used as needed.) They were let down after they calmed down and agreed to behave.
I'm sure Neal and Tess have similar methods of responding to tirade and tantrums.
