
This is a scaled, poor quality version of a series of bookmarks I'm doing to sell at science fiction conventions. Next up will be Bast. I'm looking for images that are authentic Egyptian images and the text under the bookmarks will be from a prayer that addresses that specific deity. I'll be doing other types of bookmarks as well.

There's a great statue of Sekhmet in the courtyard of San Simeon (a/k/a "Hearst Castle"). You can see a picture of it here:

Bast(et) was a more popular deity (due in part, no doubt, because she never tried to devour the human race), so statues/pictures of her are a lot more common.

Bast always makes me think of an old Arthur Conan Doyle short story.
There were lots of cats that were mummified in Bast's name. Like a lot of other Egyptian mummies, they ended up being ground into fertilizer for British farms. In the story, farmers were getting seduced by an Egyptian woman who would appear in their mummy-fertilized fields.
