It aired once before then, but this was only in a couple local broadcast areas like Twin Falls, Idaho, not nationwide. This was on December 31, 1983, just before midnight, so it could technically still be able to qualify for entry into the 1984 Clio Awards (think of the Oscars, but for commercials).
