Say hello to: Siri
Much like her twin sister Mwezi, her beginning of life came at a mysterious trouble. Like her sister, she shown lack of life, with their mother almost ready to give up, almost ready to toss them into the tall grasses. But that was until one clear night, the moon was at it's fullest and brightest of the month. It's light was acting strange and unusual than before, as Mwezi and Siri's mother was on the verge of depression for the potential lost of her newborns. However, that was before the moonlight would shine upon Mwezi with an incredible light that no one has ever seen.
When the light was done, their mother's ears were filled with mews and cries, and sights of one of the cubs moving in search of their mother. But the sight was different for the other cub, for Siri who's body has yet to move, besides when Mwezi accidentally bumped her. Mwezi was pulled close by their mother, while Siri was left where she laid, as their mother hoped that Mwezi's life would distract her from the sorrow that came with Siri's lack of life. Their mother would spend so much time with Mwezi, not wasting one second to ensure the life of Mwezi was kept warm, clean, and as close to her as possible.
But each time their mother looked at Siri's lifeless body, the tears would return to her eyes. She was grateful for her one cub's life, but the loss of the other can only be ignored for so long by the mother. She'd sob and hug Mwezi close and tight, hoping that the hug and little nuzzles would put their mother to sleep for the night. Which, their mother would eventually drift off to sleep, with Mwezi in arms. But however, as she slept, nightmares would occur, nightmares of Mwezi as a cub, and death following her everywhere Mwezi hopped and ran. The mother would awake in horror at the nightmare, almost in a screaming fit that would wake the entire pride.
The mother can only imagine how long it would take before she gets over the lost. But she can imagine for so long, before seeing the sight of her other daughter, not moving a muscle. The mother would then look at the moon, seeing that it is now towards the horizon, almost to be swallowed by the distant mountains, as the moon slowly begins to give off a bluish tint of a blue moon. "Please...just one more..." is all the mother would say in a quiet tone, thinking that would be her only resort, her only hope for Siri's life. The mother was about to dismiss what she just did, thinking that it's silly. That was, until the mother would see the blue moon acting strange again.
The bright light blue of the moon's light, would do the same thing it did to Mwezi several hours prior. But this time, the light was more blue, like the blue moon itself, making the mother look away from the brightness again. Then when the light stopped, the mother would look to see the moon going behind the mountains, before her ears would be filled with the greatest noise she may ever hear in her life. It was a mew, a cry, a whine for mother, but it wasn't from Mwezi who sleeps peacefully, it was Siri. Her eyes would open with the blue moon's light, shining bright like her sister did, before they closed to become normal eyelids, and the mother's eyes was not only full of tears, but with the sight full of Siri not only having the same star like pattern on her side, but moving, squirming in search for her mother. Then in no time, the mother would pull Siri close with her sister, and provide both with warm, clean licks, as she ensures that both are clean and healthy to keep those lives, that she thought she lost.
Yes, much like Siri's twin sister Mwezi, Siri's life had a mysterious beginning. Their mother wonder why the moon acted like it did, whether it was the moon spirit or just pure coincidence from the strange phenomenon. But she could careless, as she now has two healthy, breathing, living cubs.
