How to assemble your dragon, volume X
Just a quick sketch of an idea. This dragon has the wings sprouting near the hips, the musculature connecting onto a keel bone formed from reptilian pubis and ischium, or something similar in this six-limbed anatomy. It might be functional, potentially there could be room there to develop the necessary construction for powered flight.
Balance is actually potentially better than even wyvern like creatures, the wings positioned better for the centre of mass of a typical quadrupedal anatomy. They might be quite agile on ground.
Gorging would be a bit tricky with him. The hind part is quite rigid, there is no room for expansion there on the inside, excess meal would have to sit behind the ribcage, protruding just in front of the keel bone. He may lay on his side arching his back for comfort, to open up that area for his filled stomach (curling up would be impossible unless he wanted to lose his meal).
Yet it is an interesting design, I like the lean front, giving them more freedom in movement, with this creature the wings wouldn't ever get in the way. With the centre of mass close to the robust hind part, they could potentially be very swift, turning around in a blink of an eye, reaching anywhere with their arms and teeth. This flexibility wouldn't be there with a wyvern or western dragon as their centre of mass necessarily would have to be near the front, where the wings sprout.
In many regards this creature would be similar to the legwing dragon, just resembling more to a western dragon with the six limbs, more agile on the ground, but less in flight. Maybe I should experiment with these more!
