Well, it's been a few weeks now hasn't it? I've been meaning to post this for the longest time...
So a party of explorers were scoping out an ancient jungle. Their journey had already turned up wonders and new discoveries. The naturalist, a nervous young lorikeet had cataloged countless unknown plant and insect species and the zoologist and cartographer, a wolf and puma couple, had found much to their liking as well. Only the captain and archeologist among them, a cocky young fox, had nothing to show for their weeks trekking through the undergrowth. So you can imagine his excitement when, cresting over a ridge and looking down at a lush green valley, they spotted smoke rising in elaborate rings from a gap in the trees below.
"Aha!" He shouted, pushing ahead down the slope with his fellows in step behind him. "Primitives! Savages! Sweet ferality! It's about time this expedition turned up something of interest!" He reached the source of the swirling smoke far ahead of his companions. It was not much of a civilization, a single tiny hut, fashioned of mud, white birch bark, and twigs, stood in the middle of the clearing, it was barely taller than the fox himself. The smoke was wafting from a hole in the roof.
The fox strode confidently forward, before he'd reached the hut, however, a minuscule figure emerged from within it. Its skin looked roughly textured, like wood and had a soft green tinge to it, as if chlorophyll replaced blood in its bodily system. It wore a painted mask over what was apparently its face, a grass-like shock of hair stuck out over the top. Its only other dressing was a ragged little loincloth fastened at the waist. It had short limbs, three stubby pointed fingers at the end of each arm, and little pointed toes. It barely reached the fox's waist.
The bizarre little creature stopped in its tracks when it noticed the archaeologist grinning down at it. They locked gazes, or so it seemed, the little creature's head was inclined toward the fox's. The rest of the team caught up just then, panting and sweating. The fox glanced back at his companions, smiled smugly, and said-
"Now you'll get to see a master scientist in action, dear friends," He cleared his throat and smoothed the lapels of his jacket pompously before bending to a crouch and addressing the dwarfish critter in a very annoying and condescending tone, "HELLO. WE ARE FRIENDS. WE WISH TO LEARN." He paused to flash a superior grin to his comrades, obviously expecting them to be impressed. The avian glanced anxiously at the wolf and puma, both of whom were looking exasperated. The wolf rolled her eyes at her boyfriend who grinned and whispered something to her in a low voice.
The creature was looking equally unimpressed, but it turned and walked away, towards the trees at the far edge of the clearing. It made lazy motions with its arms for them to follow. The fox confidently stood up and began to strut after it. His fellows followed, the avian looking scared and the other two a little bemused.
They followed it through the brush for about five minutes before it stopped abruptly. The team halted almost immediately. There was a momentary silence, where even the buzz of insects seemed to stop. Then a beat began from seeming nowhere, and the little creature began to dance. It turned around , lifting its arms slowly in rhythm. It pointed to the fox then each of his fellows at each beat, the music began to grow louder and louder. The fox watched fascinated and giddy. The tiny critter began to tap its feet as it waved its arms left and right. The beat began to quicken. The wolf and puma exchanged nervous looks.
Suddenly a mass of multicolored smoke exploded behind the creature. Then a flash of light. It took them all by surprise. A pulse went through them, the fox felt his body seize up. But it was more than just a momentary start from the unexpected outburst, he couldn't move! He felt a chilling crawling all over his body, it was under his fur- The little shaman was still swaying with the strange music, he pointed to each of them again. And as he did so, the fox felt his muscles relax. But the sensation didn't stop, he felt like he were sinking. He looked down, checking for quicksand, but his boots were firmly placed upon the hard sparsely-grassed earth. As he watched, however, that sparsely-grassed earth began to draw nearer and nearer...

Aaaaaaaand stop. These narratives just won't end, will they?
Yay! Anthropomorphic anthropologists! ...Fun stuff.

*low wolf whistle* Now this is unexpected: another foray into the shrinking realm, with new characters no less. I'm quite interested *note the perked ears, chuckles*. And theres nothing ever wrong with creative narratives, Koopus, so please don't ever stop! It makes for a good introduction to the characters as well as establish their individual quirks and mannerisms, making it easier to connect with them, as well as enjoy the tricks they fall under. I'm curious if the little tribal shaman (who looks awfully happy, in that mask) is a new recurring character of yours, and get a bit of back story on him later, as he does have a very unique design (making me curious if that mask is a mask...and if it is, whats behind it). The four explorers are also engaging, as we get an even better idea in the second part, but for now, this part has a great introductory narrative and a nice in-progress shrinking in various stages (Quite fast for some, which makes me wonder if thats due to species or gender...) Still, its a shock to see all this on a Monday...and its quite welcomed, at that!
