World of Golden Light Shrouded in Shadows- Link Bunny TF
A fantastic and iconic game, Link to the Past. Shame I never finished it... Well, I never finished the final dungeon, but... Ah never mind. Love the Zelda series to death anyways.
Pink bunnies seem to have a strange affinity with me, don't they? (Okay, now I'm just playing with text encoding)
The game was so beautiful in full-screen graphics... Especially this scene. I always felt sorry for the pair of transfigured souls on the mountaintop you first encounter in the dark world... Once I got the Magic Mirror I keep wanting to take them back with me... Maybe I'm just weird.
Being boring again... Excuse me.

Heheheh, my guess is perhaps you're craving some Pink Bunny Peeps?

Still, this would make for an interesting game, seeing how he was a big, powerful wolf in the latest game, would have to be quite an engaging game mechanic to see how Link would get by as a small pink bunny (But then again, I bet Zelda and the other ladies of Hyrule would just fall for him...they might have a strange affinity for pink bunnies too ;3). Also, the background is quite impressive, the dark hues and colors reminds me does remind me of the days of old NES and SNES title screens, especially for the Zelda games. Some very impressive mix of styles in this piece, Koopus. Your muse certainly has you going, doesnt it?

Well- It was part of the gameplay in Link to the Past. There's an alternate realm, a sort of parallel, higher plane thing in the game called the Golden Realm (or something to that effect) which is a sort of overlay to the normal "Light World" map, and you switch between the two at several points. Anyways, it gets corrupted by the evil of Ganon and becomes a world of darkness and monsters. Portals between the two worlds start popping up everywhere- If a player is knocked into a portal or steps on one willingly, they are taken to the Dark World- The first time this happens is on Death Mountain (a familiar Hyrulian site, I think, you've played Twilight Princess, right? I remember a pic in your gallery of Wolf Link...) When the screen stops swirling and waving like a heat haze Link is revealed to have been turned into a pink bunny! The reason is that all who are sucked into the Dark World, without a special artifact called a Magic Mirror ('least I think that's what it's called) assume something of "their soul's true form" (or that's how one of those 'souls' put it). Many become monsters themselves- Why Link becomes a bunny here is open to speculation, but while the player is in this form they're completely helpless, Link can't use any weapons, all he can do is run as fast as he can to try and reach a portal to return him to the Light World. Some enemies in later dungeons also have the power to do this to Link for a short time.
This adds to the gameplay and the narrative around Link for this particular "Legend", which wasn't particularly explored until this game- It set the standard for the games that came after- Like Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess of course.
At least that's the summation of what I remember... I might have a few things off...
All long-winded explanations aside, how does the picture look?

It's a tiny part of the game, Boltro- Really tiny, just another obstacle to overcome, like a block puzzle or a boss. It just gets a bit more emphasis in the TF fanbase for... Well, for obvious reasons. I can understand your feeling though, every person has their favorite of the different Links from the Zelda series- Well, I can't really identify a favorite, but I am intrigued by this one and the one from Link's Awakening and the Oracle series (have you played any of those?) I think you enjoyed Twilight Princess, right? Have you played any of the others?
Anyway, thanks for the compliment- I saw you favorited my Valentine's Day piece, with Shift and Luna, you know. I was sorta expecting a response from you on that... But I'm glad you liked it enough to add it to your favorites.
I feel like we're drifting apart a little, Boltro, are you busy with work, not able to get on as much? If you are that's completely fine, it should fall as the height of shame for me to chastise someone for something like that- But I want to stay in touch if possible, if that's okay.

I have played all of these Legend of Zeldas:
- Ocarina of Time - N64
- Majora's Mask - N64
- Oracle of Seasons - GameBoy (which I didn't find all that fascinating)
- Wind Waker - Gamecube (which was underrated)
- A Link to the Past: Four Swords Adventures - Gamecube (which was completely gay)
- Twilight Princess - Gamecube (because I didn't have a Wii at the time)
Yes, I did enjoy Twilight Princess so much in fact that I believe it is the best title since the installments on the N64. Yes Link transformed in that game as well, but a wolf serves a bit more of a purpose than a rabbit don't you think?
I don't care much for the portable system ones. The new one, Spirit Tracks, looks so darn terrible I want to gouge my eyes out.
But they're working on a new one for the Wii, and it should make me very happy.
Sorry, I couldn't really respond for two reasons:
1. I have commented on so many submissions from you that I now lack the words to say anything else. I don't know how I can reword what I mean to say any further than I already have.
2. I lacked the time, since the last time I got on here to favorite the piece was on a Tuesday like this one. I only have about a half hour on days like this, and if I'm lucky I can spend a few hours on it on the weekend.
All I have is the weekends now K, sorry. My school laptop has a program called ContentWatch that prevents me from getting onto both dA and FA. And on top of that, my brother is on our home computer (the one I'm using right now) nearly twenty-four hours a day.
In about six months, though, I should be getting a brand new laptop that doesn't have ContentWatch or some stupid program designed to block me from these sites.
I want to stay in contact.
It's just not under my control anymore.

if you don't mind, a few corrections:
The Magic Mirror item transports Link (or presumably any user) from the Dark World/Golden Realm to Hyrule proper. You receive it by helping the old man who lives on Death Mountain, and thus will have it before your first journey to the Dark World. This is the ONLY item that Bunny Link is able to use.
The item which prevents the changing of forms is called the Moon Pearl (iirc) and the only way up to the level of Death Mountain on which it's home dungeon, Hera's Tower, lies is by cutting through the Dark World and using the Magic Mirror to warp to the same XY coordinates -- which are raised up in the Light World, bu on level with the portal in the Dark World.
IIRC, there are no portals Dark -> Light; the only travel is Light -> Dark or Magic Mirror from Dark -> Light. The MIrror also leaves a temporary warp/rift whence you can return to the dark world.
It is during this first stop in the Dark World that you meet a Bully who, in transit, has become a monster-like being, and a rolling ball-like person: he explains he has that form because he can never make up his mind, and it is said that the form one takes in the Golden Realm/Dark World reflects what is in the heart. Indecision made a ball, bullying made a monster -- and some theorize that Link becomes a bunny due o some quality of "innocence" or similar. There is, of course, no official statement I know of on why he becomes a bunny, but that's one theory I've read.
In addition, every portal except the first on Death Mountain (and the "Castle Gate Warp") will require the acquisition of some item from the Dark World dungeons to be accessed, to prevent players from encountering them too early in the game.

Ooooh the Moon Pearl- I completely forgot about that, thank you. Well I was writing straight from memory, sort of foolish of me with the entire World Wide Web at my fingertips...
But anyways, thanks for your clarifications, you really know your stuff.
Any opinions on the actual image?

You know, I kinda wish it was possible to use his equipment in bunny form, or at least have some attacks. It would have been quite interesting to try to play through the game as a pink bunny of doom.
Actually now I have this mental image.
The great King of Evil Gannon, defeated by a single pink bunny.
